Dort arbeitete sie jahrelang in eigene Praxis mit Ärtzte und Fysiotherpeuten zusammen. Ihr Lomitraining fing in 1993 an bei Harriette Kapualani Sakuma in New York. Sakuma, geboren und aufgewachsen auf Maui (Hawaii), lernte und arbeitete 14 Jahre bei lomi lomi kahuna Kahu Abraham. Sakuma und Segal arbeiteten fünf Jahre lang intensiv zusammen in New York, Toronto, Europa und auf Big Island (Hawaii). Seit 1996 unterrichtet Amira in Canada, Israel, Hawai'i und Europa. Amira lebte jahrelang auf Maui (Hawaii) und lernte dort von diejenigen die mit dem alten Lomiwissen verbunden sind. Es ist Amira's Anliegen ihr Aloha zu teilen mit jeder der sie begegnet, und ihr Wissen über Lomi und die Hawaiianische Tradition mit gröβtmöglichen Integrität zu vermitteln. GASTLEHRER und LEHRERINNEN AUS HAWAI'I AUNTIE MARYANN PUALANI CHEW NAKOA BARROS (auf dem Foto links) AUNTIE MARYANN BARROS is a native Hawaiian whose roots lay strong from Kahakuloa and Makena on the island of Maui in Hawaii. Her Hawaiian lineage dates back to 1600’s in Maui.She also affectionately is referred to as “Aunty Mary” by many. She believes that “the balance of spirit mind & body creates harmony”. It’s the foundation of all else, she says, “helping others feel better is being an instrument for ke Akua.” As a child she spent part of her time and holidays on Maui. Educated in Honolulu (Kamehameha High school graduate), she moved back to Maui as a young adult. She worked for 25 years & retired from a private utility company. After retiring she had to return to her roots. Massage is her vehicle to “return to what is familiar”. As a child she massaged her family not by choice. In 1989 her family had experienced a tragic accident. “It was this moving experience which started me on a new path.” So Maryann started Western training in the first fulltime class of the Maui school of Therapeutic massage from which she graduated. She also studied lomilomi with Daniel Fowler, Kami Hunt and with Auntie Margaret Machado in Napo’opo’o (Big Island) where she received her diploma in advanced lomilomi. She continued to study under Amira Segal learning the ceremonial style of lomi. Presently she studies Hawaiian Spirituality with the Kalama Foundation (under Kumu Aupuni Kaimiloa). Lomi is a life long study. Throughout the years Aunty Mary has taught at the Maui School of Therapeutic Massage, Germany, Holland and Canada. She brings to her students her unconditional love for people and her lomilomi style of touch. A touch that she has embraced from her Hawaiian lineage and other teachers along her path through the years. Sie wird weiterhin als Beraterin an Malamalomi verbunden bleiben. KUMU KEALA CHING KUMU KEALA CHING ist ein sehr respektierter kumu hula (hulalehrer) von Kona, Big Island, Hawaii. Er leitet verschiedene hālau hula (Hulaschulen) in Kona, und ist kumu und kultureller Berater von Hulaschulen in Kalifornien, Japan und der Schweiz. Kumu Keala Ching war Mitglied der Tanzgruppe The men of Waimapuna die 1984 am King Kamehameha Hula & Chanting Wettbewerb teilgenommen und 1986 beim renommierten Merrie Monarch Hulafestival mehrere erste Preise gewonnen hat. Kumu Keala Ching wurde von Kupuna Malia Craver als Ho'oponopono practitioner ausgebildet. Seit 1999 studiert und unterrichtet er Hula, Hawaiianische Kultur und Traditionen bei Frank Kawaikapoukalani Hewett. Kumu Keala Ching beschäftigt sich sehr intensiv mit hawaiianischer Kulturerziehung und ist Komponist, Songwriter und spiritueller Berater von verschiedenen hawaiianischen Organisationen. Kumu Keala Ching gründete die Stiftung Na Wai Iwi Ola (the ancient waters of life) um die hawai'ianische Kultur und Praxis mit Hula-Unterricht, hawai’ianischem Sprachunterricht, dem Ausführen von Zeremonien und den Geschichten der Älteren aus Vergangenheit, Gegenwart und Zukunft zu wahren und lebendig zu halten. Seine Stiftung konzentriert sich auf generationenübergreifendes Lernen. Das heisst, er arbeitet mit kupuna (Älteren), makua (Eltern), 'opiio (Jugendlichen) und kamali'i (Kindern) um Kultur- und Lernprogramme für Kinder aller Altersgruppen zu entwickeln.
